Professional installers of home automation and home cinemas
We were invited to work on a unique project. Our clients presented us with a unusual set of requirements, for a multi-purpose room, which could serve as a home office and as a high-end home cinema room for the family to enjoy. They also needed the room to have home cinema furniture, in the form of a large wardrobe for clothing storage… This page is a case study of the project.
.
Our carpenters built the Audio visual cabinet in three sections according to our CAD drawings. We then had the cabinets professionally spray painted to match our client’s desired aesthetic..
Once the three sections of the Home cinema cabinets had been spray painted, we installed them into the room.
Our audio-visual specialists then ran the cables within the home cinema cabinets and in the ceiling void, ready for the speakers, as well as for two subwoofers.
Our audio-visual specialists then ran the cables within the bespoke Audio-Visual cabinets and in the ceiling void, ready for the speakers, as well as for two subwoofers.
Our carpenters built a lighting bulkhead precisely according to our CAD design, we also ran the necessary cables for a Sony 4K Laser projector and for LED strips and downlights, within the ceiling bulkhead..
We installed steel track to the ceiling and began running optical cables ready for a fibre optic star ceiling. Our carpentry team dry fitted the cabinet doors onto the home cinema furniture and adjusted the hinges, then we sent the doors for spray painting.
We attached mirrors onto the newly painted doors of the home cinema furniture, then we were all set to hang the cabinet doors.
Once the doors were in place, we stepped back to admire our work.
The mirrors on the doors added a touch of elegance to the room and made it seem brighter and more spacious.
Next, we moved on to the audio-visual elements of the project.
Although the room has multiple uses our client did not want to compromise when it came to the sound quality.
We opted for a 5.2.4 system utilising the incredible ‘KEF CI Series’ in-wall speakers, an ultra-high-performance loudspeaker featuring KEF’s signature Uni-Q technology as well as being THX® Certified to maintain exceptional sound quality at high output levels.
Two SVS SB3000 active subwoofers were used to deliver the sub bass.
These subs were located directly onto some acoustic isolation materials which in turn were directly placed on the floor of the room, within two spaces at the base of the home cinema furniture, in such a way as to have no direct contact with the audio-visual cabinet.
The client already had four Bowers and Wilkins ceiling speakers, which we used for the height channels for Dolby ATMOS content.
The AV Receiver powering the system is equally impressive, the Anthem MRX 1140 is a 15.2 channel receiver capable of delivering 140W per channel.
The front left and right speakers are bi-amped to separate the low and high frequencies for the best sound performance and installed directly into the facia panels on each side of the home cinema furniture. The enclosed spaces behind each speaker are of the ideal size and are acoustically sealed .
We mounted the twelve-fibre optic star ceiling panels and attached the optical cables. We created a full set of lighting scenes for our clients.
The on-screen image is produced by one of our favourite projectors the Sony VPL-XW5000 laser projector, which delivers incredible performance, with native 4K resolution, using Sony’s SXRD Technology. The projector is mounted on one of our own ultra-low profile projector brackets – available to order. The wall panels in this photo were supplied and installed by sinemas.co.uk
We incorporated a Control 4 Home automation processor and remote, to provide our client with user friendly control of the system as a whole, including the scene based lighting and the motorised window blinds.
After the project was completed we received this very kind message from our delighted client:
Richard from UK home cinemas is great at what he does and pleasure to work with.
Richard spent countless hours discussing our design to ensure we could use our new room for all activities we wanted. He was very patient showing and discussing with us potential options and alternatives for what was novel idea and fairly complex design. We had to take into account number of limitation and particularities with heating, air conditioning, lighting and existing speaker and network installation. Richard designed, built and installed perfect acoustic housings for our in-wall speakers as well as number of other features. He and his team worked tirelessly to ensure we get results we wanted. Richard and his team worked collaboratively with subcontractors and our builder.
We would highly recommend UK home cinemas for any media room installation project.
